"Quilter's Cottage"

Finished.

Another of the Lori Holt quilts I made in the last two years and finished recently.

The pattern book can be found here. I did not come up with this design, obviously.

It was truly a fun quilt to make.

This quilt finishes at 74-1/2”x89”.

These large blocks just really go quickly. I make so many quilts with very small blocks that making these fun picture quilts with big blocks - well, it is a nice change of pace for me.

And just a note. Just looking at this book title when I found the link, it reminded me that maybe I can make up a whole quilt of those big flowers. It would be bright, bold and possibly beautiful. I’ll think about it.

The individual flowers are 7-1/2”x14” blocks, so I’ll consider what I can do.

Here are even more photos of the quilt.

I do love it and this is a keeper for me!

I really did not make a good choice as to the border on the little quilt hanging on the line as the far left block

I should have chosen a fabric with far more contrast to the background as it does not show up well from a distance. It is just too similar to the green. Up close I can see it fine, but a much darker fabric would have been so much better.

I did end up piecing the piece of backing I had that was a large Lori Holt print, but not quite large enough for this top.

Here is my Lori Holt series as it is to date. You can see that I am ever so slowly getting all the finished tops quilted. I guess it is time to get some more tops made! :)
