“Spring Baskets”

When we were traveling back in the states a year ago, I made this top.

Most of you who follow me know that I normally use small pieces.

However, this time, I really went with the BIG blocks. This is a Lori Holt pattern from one of her books - Scrappiness is Happiness.. I have several quilts already from this book - and am having a blast doing so!

Since the blocks are so big, I actually made them quickly! In fact, coming back in contact with these, has made me consider making some more large blocks. They use up fabric faster, if that is a good thing, and definitely they make a statement! In fact, I’m considering finding some more large flower blocks and making up a scrappy quilt with them.

So, I’m thinking…

But anyway, this one is beautiful!

I did use pretty much all Lori Holt fabrics. The sashing is not, however. I found that in the store in Florida in the thirties section.

I also did change the pattern a bit since I wanted the quilt longer - so it would be long enough for a bed. As such, I added the red strip and then more border fabric on the top and bottom.

I did pick up some fabrics while I was up in Indiana to help round out the baskets. In other words, they are not all Lori Holt fabrics, but I was going for color and/or shades.

I suppose you could make the pictures larger to see the individual fabric, but here are the flowers.

The quilt roll! -

Now my Lori Holt series is at this point. So far my “series” is 25 quilts big.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
