May 2025 strips cutting report

Yes, even though I was only back for less than a month this time, I still started to collect scraps that needed to be cut down into strips.

I often make them when working on charity tops and this was no exception. Since I finished those Spiderman panels, I did create some things to cut up.

Now, I did save back some pieces that seemed perfect for hearts. But some got thrown into my bin. Our cat has chosen to sleep in it as he likes the cushy feel of the scraps.

I always have more up in my sewing room as I tend to create scraps up there as well and sometimes they are just placed somewhere in a bag. Eventually that bag makes its way to the main floor of the house. I tend to worl with the scraps at the dining room table where I do most of my cutting.

Why? There is simply more room and since my main fabric storage area is on that floor, using that level of the house to cut only makes sense, for most. Occasionally I do cut a few things in the sewing room upstairs, but since space is limited, usually due to projects going on, I often just walk downstairs to the cutting area - especially if I have a bit to cut. It doesn’t hurt me to take the trek downstairs which gets me up and moving a bit anyway.

I didn’t have a lot to cut this month. But I did some.

In fact, I didn’t even bring out my pink containers. Instead I just used plastic bags to hold my cuttings.

2.5” - 0.66 lb.

2” - 0.33 lb.

1.5” - 0.22 lb.

This makes my total for this year to be as on this chart:

It actually felt really good to get back to cutting these pieces up. I did pull from my 2.5” strips I had JUST cut for a project I was working on so they weren’t counted. But that’s FINE with me. I’ve got so many strips now, I’ve got to make a serious effort to whittle them down.

Here are the totals since I started keeping track:

I am not sure what is new that I can share here since this month there are so few, comparatively speaking.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
