Charity Quilt Work Weekly Report

I decided to start giving my charity quilts a half hour a day in preparation for next year’s work. I am afraid that I will not work at all on these if I don’t give myself a concrete goal that is not too hard. I don’t want charity quilting to consume my time til the end of the year but a small goal will be workable. :) I find myself able to get a lot done with very small goals.

So, I’ve decided to commit 30 minutes a day for 6 days a week to begin to prepare for getting my quilt tops ready for quilting in 2026. If I get completely ready with everything before the end of the year, I will stop working on this goal. However, at this point, I’m a long ways from being ready.

I’ll try to take a few pics each day of what I did. Then, just to keep me working, I will try to report once a week. This report is a bit short because I only started this on Monday.

These are the kinds of things I will do:

prepare bindings, match up tops to backings, prepare backings as needed if I need a larger than typical backing, add borders to tops, and stack and organize the tops in the long arm room

So here goes.

Monday - 30 min. Sewed black strips onto the Mickey center long panels. (I can see I need to get that machine cleaned!)

Tuesday - 35 minutes - ironed tops made by Fran and sent over in a box

Wednesday - 30 minutes - ironed tops from Fran and Mickey Mouse black strips I had added on Monday.

Thursday - 30 minutes - ironed (again!) I finished up the ironing of the tops I want to work on soon - so after this I’ll have some different types of things to share.

Friday - 45 minutes - started matching up tops to backings. I want to get this shelf Filled with matched up tops/backings. Sometimes I had to cut the backings first - but some I already had cut and folded and all I had to do was decide. I matched up 15 tops and backings and put them on the shelf above.

So there you are. I hope to keep making step by step progress so that in a few weeks, I’ll have this shelf completely full and I’ll be ready to go for 2026!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
