“Moroccan Dreams”

This is the next one finished out of the 2.5” series. I’ll put the series such as it is down at the bottom of the blog post.

Do I like how this quilt turned out?

I do. Very much so. I think those 25 patches just kind of sneaking in there bordering the gray x blocks - as if I worked really hard at placing them as part of the block. I didn’t. The whole quilt is just two blocks. Yes, two blocks. The blue checkerboard just happen to tuck right up next to the gray and creates that effect.

I did have to piece the backing - as these are just rather large quilts!!! It is hard for me to come up with enough of the same fabric to not piece (unless I use my charity quilt backings and I am going to hit those very hard in 2026, so I’d rather hit my own stash hard in 2025).

Yes, I really do LIKE this quilt. I am not sure I love it as it was harder to make it it than it seems. For instance, those x blocks were hard to make line up with the 25 patches - at least harder than I expected.

However, as a finished quilt, I am very pleased with the look.

I did play with the coloration quite a bit on this before finally deciding on this one. And yes, those blue 25 patches all came from my 2.5” strips bags.

So why did I call this one Moroccan Dreams? Because years ago now we went to Morocco and this design reminded me of some of the things we saw there. That kind of curved motif in the center of the gray just made me think of that country.

I did on the pattern and it is here. I hope someone can use it!

The quilt roll.

The 2.5” series so far.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
