Selvedges - We still Have Them!
Rachael got in a boatload of packages of selvedges from FreeSpirit which were packaged by them in their factory somewhere far away. We believe it is the leftovers from when they make precuts.
Anyway, they offered them to us and we are offering them to our customers for sale!
They are fun and quirky and cute. These seem to be kind of large packages for the money.
Here are pictures of what we got in.
Our customers have been snatching them up!

I have made one top so far from my own selvedges. There are so many ideas out there of things you can make from them. The first in my own personal series is this one - It’s a quarter log cabin block on point.
My second one will probably be a spool quilt block quilt using selvedges as the color on the thread. For that quilt I will try to color coordinate the fabrics that are on the fabrics so that each spool block will be ‘thread’ of a certain color.
I was sharing with Rachael that there are some fun things you can do with them. She asked me to share them with you all.
But I did look around the internet and found some ideas on You Tube.
This first one is an amazing person who I may consider the queen of selvedges - Terry Rowland. She has a wealth of information! She shows bags, fabrics and other interesting things made from them! Seriously - the bags she made from selvedges are unbelievable!
This next quilt is from Sister Chicks and I want to make this spool selvedge block. It’s the next project I want to make - not sure of the exact spool design, however.
The next two are specific blocks and quilts with selvedges.
I love this lady’s ideas! She shows some fun little Christmas trees on a quilt top in front of her work area. She shows the Christmas tree quilt at 0:38 in the video.
So there you are - these are some of the best selvage/selvedge ideas that I found while learning how to use up some of my own selvedges that I have here in my house!
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
