1-10 Charity quilts 2024

All done! I finished binding on Monday, October 28, 2024 about 7:45 pm. I was so ready to be done!

Thankfully the Lord gave me strength and I just kept going so that day and I finished binding the last 40 (I had sewn on the first side so all I had to was flip it over and top stitch - still took about 2 hours for 10, so about 8 hours of work!

I haven’t been feeling well pretty much the whole month of October, so this whole thing was an exercise in perseverence and working while not at my optimum energy.

I managed to get the pictures for the first 10 quilts which are bound, washed and dried.

So here they are. Click the arrows to move them faster.

These quilt tops were made by Ewa’s mom/Ewa, Fran, and maybe a couple of them by me. I did use the small strips Ewa gave me last year and added strips to them to make them into quilt tops. I did make completely all that medallion quilt - with the flower in the center - a while ago now. I’m so glad to be finishing these tops all up! This is giving me such a sense of satisfaction!

I will say that the brown ones are all turning out so well! These quilts were made from the Big Fabric Haul back in 2017 - the browns. I’m about done wtih them. I still have blacks, but black has less variety so I’ve had a harder time figuring out how to use them - well, I will do the same type of thing as with the browns. Here’s a variety of the quilts we’ve made with the browns. Some of these are from 2023 and the last two are from this year.

When given a choice, the brown quilts are some of the FIRST ones to go home with people.

I’m trying to mix and match a variety of quilts so that not all 10 quilts are brown or all 10 the strips ones.

I have a lady coming in a couple of days to get 10. It may be some of these and some others as well - we’ll see what I decide. She asked me at least a month ago for quilts and I’ve put her off til now. I’ll try to get more pictures for the next twenty soon so I can choose from among thirty. :)

I do have some threads I need to trim off - I will work on that before I remove them from my house.

I’m so relieved to have this part of the process started - and hopefully I will in reasonably good time get the rest of them washed and dried.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
