A Tiny View of Quilt Festival in Houston

I’m bumping my Ukraine Efforts til tomorrow so that we can continue Rachael’s series from the recent Quilt Market/Show in Houston to today.

Scott Fortunoff posted a 10 min. video HERE of Kaffe and Brandon talked about their history in the quilting world. It’s amazing that he goes back 60 years! (And just for educational information, Kaffe Fasset is pronounced like Safe Asset!)

A special blog post by Rachael from her recent trip to Houston.

I was incredibly busy with the quilt Market, so I only poked my head in the Quilt Festival area, where the Quilt SHOW was going on, for just a few minutes. I thought, however, that you might like to see some of what I saw there.

The quilts were truly mind-bogglingly amazing. However, like any good castle, cathedral, art museums or antique emains excavation, a little bit goes a long ways. So, I only took in a little bit of it, so that I would remember what I saw.

This is what I saw.

This is absolutely stunning!

Another stunning applique quilt!

This bird looks like he could fly out of this flower!

I couldn’t really see this one as a quilt, but I needed to see if the eggs were attached to each other or just to the backing of the display. It was fascinating.

I tend to love art type quilts.

Beauty, everywhere you looked!

More art quilts that spoke to me since they looiked like Florida. Love the bird on the gator’s head.

Just stunning quilts were there!

More medallion quilts!

It was after that that I decided to leave the quilt show because there would be NO END to the absolute stunning beauty! I knew that I could spend the next 30 hours just gaping at these quilts, so I decided I’d share these few pictures with you as something to whet your appetite.

This is what the Quilt Festival Viewers go to see. They let us have a sneak peek, if we paid to be at Quilt Market. Most of us did NOT spend hours looking at the quilts, as there was quilt overload at the other end of the building. But, it was all just simply stunning!

Thank you very much, Rachael, for giving us a tiny glimpse of the beauty at the Quilt Festival. Most of us couldn’t be there, as you know, so ew appreciate it!
