Wild Pigs - checking us out!

Here in Poland wild pigs have been taking over our area. However, until the last few months, we hadn’t seen them THAT often. However, in the last few days we’ve started seeing them more often - wandering down the road in front of our house, and on the lane beside our house, eating acorns from near our fence.

The first very close occurence in front of our house was about a week ago now - on a Saturday. They caused a bit of a traffic jam. At least this time they were outside the fence.

Then, a few days later, on Tuesday, when my husband was on the way to the train station taking my friend, Lisa, who had helped me sew charity tops, and her husband, Gary, I noticed a rather large pig IN OUR YARD!

I took a few videos of them. I was a little scared. It’s one thing to have them in the area, but quite another to have them invading your own yard! I mean, there had been evidence that they had been here, but I hadn’t actually seen them IN our yard. I had seen them behind our yard, yes, in the woods.

This is back in our compost heap- making a mess/eating.

Wild pigs in Poland have become a problem. They need to be hunted, but somehow, people here seem somewhat attached to them. Why? Not sure. Obviously they haven’t been hurt by them.

That was on Tuesday - a few days ago.

They were back on Thursday, I think it was.

I’m writing this on Sunday. This morning at 7 am they were in our yard again.

Sigh. This time our cat was outside, so I was more focused on getting him inside than I was on taking more pictures of probably the same pigs!!!

We do live near some woods, so it’s not a surprise that we have some living nearby, but here’s hoping they don’t make it a habit.

I was glad that they didn’t eat the pumpkins we had harvested. Maybe they’ve not eaten them before and don’t realize how delicious they are!
