"Flippin Fun" - Loralie Cowgirls

I took some time to look over my finished quilts from when I’ve been in Florida and have not yet featured them!

I found quite a few, so it’s time to rectify that situation.

This one I’m calling Flippin’ Fun because of the way the blocks are turned around.

I used Loralie fabrics for this just because they are so much fun!

I didn’t have enough of all Loralie fabrics to use all of her fabrics, but I tried to use what I had enough of.

I did just flip the blocks around. That’s what makes the look like this. They do have two frames on one side.

One is the partial frame and the other is the part that forms the shadow block part.

I felt like the red was necessary only because that cowgirl fabric is so amazing but that I needed something to give us some focus. Since the eye naturally draws to red and yellow, I do tend to use red a lot.

We decided on brown for the backing.

These photos are taken in my mom’s back yard, on a metal engine hoist which my dad left. My husband put it out there in the middle of a patio that is kind of overgrown with weeds now - so that we can use it for quilts.

It’s not quite as pretty as my setting in my yard only because it is so overgrown with the weeds. However, whenever we get there, it seems to blazing hot there in Florida that working outside to clean up the area seems more than I can handle physically. I just get hot thinking about it. Florida is so high in humidity and I’m not used to it anymore.

In the background you can see a clump of banana trees.  We actually got some bananas off of it when we were there in August. :) The quilt - it's just a fun one!

I did write up the pattern and it is here.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
