Box number 5 for the year from Fran!

This box came a bit ago now, and I knew it was coming because Fran told me she had had all these ready— most of which were made earlier in the year while we were in the states the first few months.

I finally opened this box and wanted to show you what was in it.

I didn’t open it before because I was enmeshed with all the charity quilts and they took over my living and dining room. I can handle a lot of mess, but even I reach my limit and opening this box and adding to the mess was more than my mental state could handle at the time.

As I write this, they (charity quilts) are completely out of the house (!!!) - at least the ones for 2025. I do have a collection of incomplete tops I will be working on getting ready for 2026, as I want to have 120 tops ready to go before Jan 1, 2026 and I don’t want them all to be the same.

As I write this, I think I have about 30 or 40 tops ready to go. I do want to get together some more of the panels I have as they are always popular for people to take as finished quilts. I want to go ahead and match up the backings with the quilts this time, especially if I do use some of my 63” wide tops as I need to prepare the backings for them by sewing up another seam. I have maybe 20 tops that could be ready to go if I could just get my act together and begin to prepare the backings for these tiny bit bigger quilt tops.

Anyway….back to THIS BOX!

Here are the larger tops - there were 5.

and here are the smaller ones. There were 16.

All together this box held 21 tops! They are so colorful, I am not even sending these on over to the church for waiting to be worked on. I will keep these here and bump them to the top for quilting in 2026. :)

I will be measuring them and then figure out what to add to them to get them to a 60”x80” or the larger ones for the double size. can’t wait to get to tackling this!

Fran did spend about $150 on shipping this box! I’m always amazed, but not so much anymore. I guess I’m getting inured as to the cost.

But I so appreciate all the tops that Fran and her friends in Arizona help make. It gives me so many bright and happy quilts. There are some here who prefer the more solemn colors, but I’ve also had people come in and say they struggle with depression and only want brights!

So, I appreciate them all!

I’ll share a couple more pictures of our recipients from other years. This is why we do it!

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
