August 2025 Strips Cutting Report

I think you know that I spent the month working on charity quilting.

However, I did organize some scraps at the end of the month - for a few hours. But that’s all. I have a lot of cleaning up/organizing to do in order to get myself feeling okay again. Every room I work in has a mess of fabric. Obviously I cleaned up the living room where I’m currently drying quilts and storing charity quilts until they dry and can be transported to the church building, but my fabric storage room and my actual sewing room both need some focused time.

I also began picking up around my table in the dining room. I was working on another project back in July and threw some of my cut offs off to the side to deal with in the future. The future is now.

But as I was busy in August, as you know, I only was able to do a bit. I did start to organize, and this isn’t going to count my work with my Lori Holt fabrics as I’m keeping them separate from the rest of my scraps.

Here is my report: You are going to laugh. I had so little that I used my kitchen scale to weigh things. I usually use our luggage scale! I told you these were going to be funny amounts.

2.5” - 104 grams or 0.23 lb.

2” - 23 grams or 0.05 lb.

1.5” - 12 grams or 0.03 lb.

I debated using the first couple of days in September to cut more and boost these amounts, but I decided not to. I decided that just letting it be what it is, it is. I had almost no time in August and these numbers reflect it.

I am giving this whole bag of cut offs to Ewa, however, to cut up into squares and strips for charity quilts once she gets to them.

In the past I cut them up and kept them, but this year I’m passing them on. I still have some pieces in my sewing room I can deal with, so it’s not like I’m out of things to cut up and strip.

After I’ve added these massive totals to my current year’s totals, here is where I stand.

And now here are my totals from when I started keeping track and actively using them in quilts.

Here are a couple of my quilts from my early 2” series. Enjoy. These are all free patterns on the website.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
