Third top from low volume blocks

Here is the third of three tops that I managed to decide on and make with these blocks which are shown to the right.

I had had them sitting in my sewing room for 2 years probably.

For this quilt, I actually added a big half square triangle to the corners of the blocks. Then I snowballed the half square triangle block on the gray side.

Then I put them in a horizontal strip quilt layout with in EQ (Electric Quilt) with every other row being a half drop block row. There are no sashings here.

It’s smaller than the other ones. This one ended up being 77” x 99” whereas the other ones were closer to 90-100” square.

I went back to the same size block as the original one- a 22” block -

But I used a lot of black! it makes a bold statement! I tested it out with purple, but it didn’t have the punch that the black provided. I literally used up all but 2” of some black poplin in the recent stash we acquired when we went on the road trip to southern Poland.

Yes. All the plastic is still there. But by now we’ve painted the walls since our satin paint arrived. Now we’re waiting on the drywall mud to dry so my husband can finish a wall (behind where I’m standing for the photo) and get that painted.

I know that for some of you the orange block in there is excessive. However, I tried it without that block being a different color - either orange or yellow or whatever, and i didn’t like it nearly as much. So I put it in there.

My husband dislikes it because it isn’t symmetrical. I’m sure that some of you don’t like it either.

However, probably equal numbers will think it is fine as it is. No matter what you think, you do have to agree that it is BOLD!

So, NOW

Can you help me with name ideas?

Here they are again - all three

If you feel like you’ve got a great idea for a name for the patterns, I’d love to hear them. Just put it in the comments 1. so and so, 2. such and such, 3. this and that….and so on.

I’d really appreciate any ideas you have!

Thanks so much for following along on this journey of mine - this quest to use up these blocks in different tops. I ended up only needing to make 4 additional “half blocks” for the edges of the two rows that were off the edge - rows 2 and 4 of the last quilt.

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store!
