Geometrics 5 - Red, Black and Gray Quilt

These are the natural colors I am drawn to with these geometrics - If I didn’t force myself, I’d have a tendency to do all of these with red, black, gray and white, but I don’t have that much red - though of course, I could buy some more.

This quilt will make a fine baby or lap quilt. Even though this is a small quilt, it took longer to put together because it is on point with sashing and cornerstones. However, because it was small, it didn’t take all day or anything (to put the rows together)! I’ve had big ones with sashing and cornerstones on point take literally just about all day! (Meaning once the blocks were assembled!)

Because this was only number 5 in the series, I still had a nice collection of interesting geometrics.

As I go farther into this series, those fun prints disappear as I use them up.

Here is the layout. Remember, those squares which are in the center here are starting at 4.5” and then I used a 1” strip around it - making a 6.5” (unfinished) block - finishes at 6”). It’s really quite simple. The sashing is black and the cornerstones are red and white - except that I used black cornerstones on the edges to help close out the black frames around the squares.

This small quilt top finishes at about 55 x 65”. Because it is on point, it doesn’t work out exactly.

And there you are. This is number 5 in this series! I’m enjoying them, and I’m having fun making this small quilts. They are very fast to do and it has been a lot of positive reinforcement quickly! I suppose I get those little Adrenalin bursts when I finish things - so a finish, albeit small, is its own reward!
