"Long-Arm Room Reno" - Day 7 - More Tile and Paint

We are gradually getting closer and closer to getting finished. Today the men almost finished it all.

After Mike got Artur going, we went to the store and picked out some trim work for around the walls. We chose a dark one - just like a quilt, I tend to like a dark binding. Truthfully, however, the trim around the edge of the room won’t be seen very much. I know that. The room really isn’t all that big so no doubt I’ll have it about as full as I can - just the frame and machine will do that along one direction anyway.

We chose a darker one. There are so many colors in the tile, that we figured we really could choose anything.

By lunchtime, Artur had done some more painting - one more coat on the ceiling and then the walls.

Painting is done. We went with a slightly off white color for the walls instead of a bright stark white.

Then, after lunch, he worked on cleaning up the tile and putting in the grout. Then he had to clean up the grout - two times they wiped it down.

Then Mike had him begin to work on a little square just outside the door of the room while they wait for all that grout to set up. Once again - this is a part of our basement that has never been finished - that is the entrance to this room and the area where the hot water heater is. My husband wants to go ahead and put drywall on that wall as well - it’s never been finished either. (I would love that!)

One more day - or part of a day. They have to still finish the little square outside the room, put in in the trim around the room that we bought earlier in this post and do some clean up.

The grout is done! I’m very happy. It’s a dark color. We were taught when we first came to Poland to not choose a light color grout when I suggested it to the tile guy when he was doing our downstairs bathroom - so we didn’t here either.

I was allowed to walk in there but not on the grout - so I had to be careful when I got a few pictures.

While all that was going on - I spent some serious time today cutting up scraps. I had had a goal to finish up the purple tote by the end of the month, but I decided to just “work on it” - as I had spent a lot of intensive piecing the last few days and wanted to just “get it done”.

Once again - thanks so much for coming along with me on my journey! I’ll keep you posted!
