Have you made a Hat?

My sis said that “bucket hats” are very popular these days.

Have you made one?

Many years ago I did make some hats for my kid’s choir - can’t remember what year that was now. I’m not sure they would be called “bucket hats” but they were hats with a bit of quilting on them to make the brim stiffer. Well, not quilting as with batting - just interfacing. If I can find a photo, I’ll put it here. But it was quite a while ago and I can’t remember what year it was.

So, tell me….

Have you made one?

I did a quick search and found a couple of free patterns.

Here they are.

Here and here.

The second link has one in five sizes…and free! We like free patterns. :)

The really cool thing about these hats - think how cute you can make them with some awesome quilting fabric? Think Kaffe Fassett or some novelty prints. What fun would that be?

No need to make a plain blue or black one - go with fun prints!

Here is a reversible one with a tutorial on You Tube.

I do think, however, if you can sew a basic quilt, you can make one of these hats! I didn’t find a hat difficult to make - even though I was using corduroy and it was my first time (eosn ago).

Here’s another pattern. There are probably myriads of them!

Let me know - and if you are on the Facebook group - show us if you’ve made one. Would love to hear about it! I wish we could show pics in the comments but I don’t know how.

Anyway - thanks for coming along with me on this journey! Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
