"Patriotic Summer" top

This quilt top was made from a bundle that Rachael, my sis offers right now. It’s called “Patriotic Summer”.

I was taken by this fabric as it reminded me of a painter called Charles Wysocki. We had a puzzle that was painted either by him or at least with this style. I was fascinated by the idea.

I wanted to make a queen size quilt out of this amazing bundle - and so I did.

This top finishes at 93”x105”.

Once finished, the panel should be smack dab in the middle of the bed. The other fabrics are not as important, but look amazing with this panel.

I did add navy blue, sage green and an off white or cream/cream to this bundle to make this layout.

This fabric bundle features an amazing panel. I used the original layout provided by the manufacturer as the idea behind the CENTER of this design. However, I had to change it somewhat because I only had a half yard of each of the fabrics. Thus, I ran out of the blue for that second wide border around the middle panel. I added some of the red stars because of that. You can see that in my top shown below.

But then I came up with the blocks over and under the center part and the sides, which should be part of the drop of the quilt - on the side of the bed.

This bundle pack is only $44! Seriously! Such a good deal. Now you would have to add the other fabrics I mentioned if you wanted to make the same thing.

So far I’ve not made up the pattern itself. IOW, this is not a kit (yet). I’m not sure it will be. If I make up the pattern for a kit, I will have to actually charge for it - but as it is - the design is here…and you are welcome to use it. I’m trying to come up with ideas for my sis and her half yard bundle packs as people have asked for ideas.

I’m sorry that the photo isn’t better. With the puzzle table still in the living room (waiting for my husband to make up the frame for the puzzle), I don’t have quite enough room for a floor photo with this size of a top. But never fear - once it is finished, I will hang it up outside and you can see easily the whole thing. I think, however, you can get the idea.

I was able to use up most of this bundle pack with this layout. That always makes me feel good. However, I did have SOME left. Maybe a little more than I wanted, but I think I will cut it into squares and put it on the back of the quilt.

Here’s another shot.

I am very pleased with the look of this top. I hope that by the time it is quilted, it will fulfil my expectations/hopes.

The original center design of this quilt can be found here. If you are interested, it’s a free download. Get it while it is still available.

I only used the center part to use as a jumping off point. Be sure to check it out.

And that’s it for today. This was a fun one for me to make.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
