Schoolhouses!

I was going through my photos from earlier this year and I saw this quilt. Something nagged at me that maybe I had never actually written about the finished quilt nor written up the pattern for you all!

So sure enough, I checked back to find the the finished quilt pictures and no, I had never even moved the finished quilt pictures to the file folder, much less written it up or showed it to you all!

I took this top with me to the states much earlier this year and asked our longarmers there to finish it for me. It had been a lot of work and I really wanted it done well. I guess that says something about my own confidence level, huh?

And sure enough - they did a great job! I had taken pictures there in Florida and just brought the camera back with me (along with the photos on a hard drive just in case).

I found the block - which is an old classic - as a free download as written on the pattern. The FREE pattern is here…but you also need to go ahead and download the block which is here. I only say that because often these things go from being free to being paid. It’s a very old block - I’ve seen it in a lot of books.

I took this one to the states earlier in 2023 and I had it finished by wonderful long-armers there.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this!

Often people ask me how they can make something similar.

First of all -

I’ll bet a lot of you have small florals in your stash. This is an idea for those.

Secondly, if you just wanted to use pastels like mine, we have these:

I think those shown above would give you a similar look to what I have.

I uploaded the pattern for this quilt as I made it. It’s here. If you want it, please feel free to download it. I made it for you! It does NOT include the main block, however…That must be downloaded separately - but I did explain my layout and the sashing and cornerstones.

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey! And for being so patient with me as I venture off into other things around me (charity stuff, bag making, pouch making, etc)!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
