"Pleasures of Fall" panel quilt top finished

After making that pretty intense red/white “Lots of Red and White” top last week, I wanted to make up this top.

Plus, I had just gotten the leaves fabric from Rachael, my sis, in the mail, so I thought it best to just go ahead and make up this top.

I enjoy working on fall colored quilts in the fall. I know that a lot of Civil War looking quilts seem to be fall-ish - as these are the colors my husband really likes. I can tell - because when I make one of those tops he raves about them. :)

Anyway, this is a panel that we have called “Pleasures of Fall” and I really liked it, so I brought it back with me.

Pleasures of Fall quilt panel is only $13 and is by David Textiles

I added a row of leaves to the top and bottom of panel and then added a couple more borders and I was done. I was able to finish this in a day with a break in the middle of the day!

Panels are amazing - when you like the “big picture” in the middle.

They can make a quilt arresting. In fact, whenever we’ve had panels in our quilt give away- they have always been chosen quickly! We always have the panel quilts taken on the first day of the Give-away - leaving none as leftover quilts for further distribution.

I think that my photos don’t do this one justice. Hopefully I can just go ahead and finish it and be ready to show it hanging outside on the line. I get the best photos that way.

This quilt top finished at 56”x76 so it is a large lap size - big enough to take a nap under while in a chair in the living room!

The thing that “makes” this top interesting is the row of leaf blocks at the top and bottom of the quilt. I chose to use 8 different colors of fall to make them - making 2 of each color so I could use one of each above and below the panel. In fact, when making this one I only needed 3” of each color to make those 2 blocks (3”x WOF - width of fabric). They went together pretty quickly.

Probably the hardest part was choosing the fabrics for the leaf fabrics.

And here you go!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
