2023 Charity quilts #41-50

Here are the next 10 charity quilts finished for 2023. I was able to get these finished drying outside and happy about that. We had a couple of warm days right at the end of September and I used those days to get these nice and dry.

I do mostly let them dry in the house, but sometimes the last bit is best outside when it it almost 80F outside. This gets them “very dry” and that makes me happy because I don’t want to put partially damp quilts in the church building all folded up.

Here they are:

And here you can see the scrappy bindings. I am not worrying about making beautiful bindings. In fact, I’m imagining a child discovering a print on the binding like the Spiderman print on the top one below (on the left) which they might even notice at first.

I am trying to coordinate the bindings with the tops - loosely. :) Gotta use up some of those 2.5” strips I’ve been cutting!

I am using a lot!!! If you think about 100 quilts and each one is approximately 300 inches - that’s 30,000 inches of binding!! Yikes. That’s almost a half a mile of binding! (A mile is 63,360 inches!)

Here are all 10 of them in a single photo collage.

We are finally having some cooler days now, so I’m so glad to see this project winding down to a close for the year (to meet my own minimum goals). Yeah!

I did get help taking a big number of quilts into the church building on Sunday.

In fact, I asked some of the men for help on Sunday after church and before I had much of a chance to do anything, the quilts were put upstairs in the room.

I did put go back up later and kind of adjusted what they did and then made a fourth pile. This way the piles are ready for more quilts to be added.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
