"Around the World Minis" - version 2

This is the second one of these I made quite recently. The other one I put on the site a little bit ago.

I put together these little Around the World blocks with some partial strip piecing. I was not able to do it completely this way however, as I had to sew together the strips but then had to take some of them back apart as needed in the individual rows.

When I did make them, I did lay the strips in my lap as I made them so that I would not get confused. I am going to make up this design - or the other one as shown earlier - one more time and take more pictures of it as I go along - and take notes. Mostly with these two, I was making them to find out if I liked them enough to spend the time in figuring out how to write a pattern for it.

Obviously we can always do such a design piece by piece, but I didn’t really do that. I made it mostly with strips except for the center.

As you can see with this one, I added a yellow strip with a black cornerstone which gives the effect of a yellow flower in the center. I chose to do a black sashing strip to divide up the blocks as black works with any color.

The last one I made I used blue - remember? It looked like this:

I played around with the colorations. Some of them I made the dark round much farther out than in others. That was on purpose. I was trying to make them different in order to see which ones I preferred.

I was very happy with this quilt. The colors make me smile and just feel cheerful.

The quilt roll:

Once again - with so much, there was so much going on in this top, that I didn’t think a fancy quilting was needed. I just did loops.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this quilt as much as I did in making it. I found that each block took me about an hour to make. but because I was able to just choose different colored strips, I had a blast in choosing which ones to use on each block. Naturally I was able to get a bit faster the more blocks I made, but they still took a certain amount of time.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this one.

Here’s the layout if you are curious I did use 2.5” strips for it, so the finished little blocks are 2”.

This top is 91’x107” as shown.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
