July 2025 Strips Cutting Report
Note. I finished this blog post at the end of July but it kept getting bumped and bumped for other things. I finally just scheduled it for now.
I cut a bit this month, but not a lot once again. I’ve just been doing so many other things and trying to work the pieces that I’ve been creating back into projects that I’m doing.
However, obviously that isn’t possible always. But I’m trying.
For example, I had some red strips leftover from the red long underwear quilt top I’ve been working on (shown to the right).
But I’ve started working on another scrap quilt (my design not shown) where I actually need some 3.5” squares in red, yellow, blue and off white or cream. Yes, can you believe that I’m actually making something with such big pieces??
So before I begin to cut up any strips or leftovers from the red from the long underwear quilt top, I’m cutting up what I need for the new design FIRST and then all the leftovers will be cut into strips. However, I’m also working on Impressionist Wreaths (shown below) using 1.5” strips - so I can direct my red strips over into that particular project.
I’ve just got projects all over the place!
I know. Some people only work on one project at a time. I don’t. I usually do some on this and some on that until I get close to finishing and then it is complete focus on the one that is almost done. I know. It is random. At times I do work on only one at a time. At this moment, however, I am not.
Anyway, here is the summary:
2.5” - 0.69 lb.
2” - 0.375 lb.
1.5” - 0.5 lb.
This means my totals for 2025 is this:
and my totals since I started.
You can see that this year my totals have plummeted. I’m not really sure why. I am sewing. I am.
Shrug?
Maybe once I start trimming up backings from charity quilts, it will all pick up. However, I am not ‘aiming at’ a certain goal for amount of strips cut. I’m just trying to keep up. If I keep up because I’m using my scraps for other current projects, then that is absolutely fine with me.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
