Bring in those Challenge Quilted Projects by Aug. 8

When we first started thinking about a Quilt Challenge, I had no idea if it would fly!

However, when we started offering Challenge Fabric Bundles, which comprised the same panel and 5 fabrics, for all the recipients, I was wondering how it would go!

Well, now we know that it was a fabulous idea!

We had more participants than we had fabric bundles! We sold over 230 bundles.

So, now it’s time to bring in your projects! We have extended the absolute deadline to Aug. 8, so we can get them all hung and looked at by Tuesday, Aug. 13, so we can start the Viewer’s Choice Judging!


We do plan to make a YOUTUBE video of all of the ones that are here in our Dade City location, so that the whole WORLD can see what you all have done!

The number of prizes awarded will be determined by how many entries we get!

We had 7 bolts of the same amazing panel that you all had not discovered yet.
So, everyone got the same panel and the same 5 other fabrics. Some of the greens were a different print, but the same basic shade of green, etc.

Obviously, we wanted to sell those panels, and all 7 bolts of the panel flew out the door along with the accompanying fabrics! We couldn’t have been happier! It’s exciting to us on so many levels - to sell fabrics, to anticipate seeing your creativity and the beginning of a new tradition here at Quilted Twins!

Now it’s time to start finishing up those projects, and getting them to us.

We have started our receiving system and have begun getting the earliest ones that arrived ready for the hanging, viewing, judging and the video.

These are our first two tubs awaiting their official entrance tags so we can hang them in the Sewin’ Shop!

To date, we’ve received back around 25 or 30 items, which makes me very happy. That does include the mailed in ones as well as the hand delivered items.

That does NOT include the emailed photo entries.

Jessica has been putting the photo entries somewhere, and I have not seen them yet, so I have no idea where those are going.

We will have a separate online judging somehow for those who just sent in pictures! It’s harder to really see what someone has done with just an image than the actual physical product.

So far we have gotten in: quilts, wall hangings, totes, bags, rope bowls, a single pillow and a jacket.

Remember, the only real rules were: you had to use the panel, and at least 4 of the fabrics. You could add one if you wanted, and something had to be quilted on it.

These piles of entries are not very visible to you, on purpose!

I’m not wanting to give too much away, in case you’re still putting your finishing stitches in your project!

We did extend the deadline a whole week, to give the late bloomers time to finish up their projects! If you’re local, drop it off next week. If you are shipping it in, get it in the mail by next Thursday, and we should be good.

If you’re going to enter via photo only, then get that sent to us by Monday, Aug. 5, please.

We are eagerly awaiting to see what can we done.

We find it interesting that we’re going to have Viewer’s Choice voting on Aug. 13, 15 and 17, with Aug. 15 being our Trunk show by Carla Klopp, and she’s going to talking about panels with her book, Panel Play. I find it fabulous!

I can’t announce how many prizes we’re going to award, because I still don’t know. We sold about 230 kits, and so, I’m hoping to get back at least 60 if not 70 entries!

Mailed: Please mail by Thursday, Aug 1, so they can get to us by the 8th. You can use the slow method. That’s fine.
