December 2025 Strips cutting report

I’m once again reporting just a small amount because I focused so much this month on getting quilts done - by that I mean, quilted, photographed and ready for the blog as I knew I had to prepare for my trip to the states for my daughter’s Big Day!

So, as a result, here are my meager results.

I do have things to trim now, and will focus on 2.5” strips now. I’ve been hitting them hard, and that is great.

The key word is “hitting them hard” - in other words, I’ve been using them, and that makes me happy!

I do have a couple more ideas of what I want to do next for using 1.5” strips, but right now, it’s all on hold til I get back to Poland after my daughter’s wedding.

Here is what I trimmed down:

1.5” - 0.99 lb

2” - 0.77 lb

2.5” - 5.4 lb

And this means that this year’s chart looks like this: You will see these numbers seem to be quite low compared to most years. The biggest reason of all that is because I was in the states for Jan to April and I didn’t do much cutting then.

And then since I’ve started keeping track in 2016. These numbers are simply startling!

I’m going to share with you the first 10 quilts in my 2” series. Any more than that and it gets to be “too much”. I believe these are on the free patterns page - unles it isn’t my pattern and they mostly are. I think only the one 7th one here was a free pattern by Moda.

I know that today is December 31 and maybe a summary of the year would be in order, but I don’t have one ready. Maybe I can do one some time in January when I’m back in Poland and back on my own computer.

In the meantime, a December 2025 strips cutting summary will have to do. It’s my time of life to just “hold on tight” while life sends you racing along as if you were at the end of the snake at the roller skating rink. My daughter is scheduled to get married in just a few days. We should be traveling today. Yes, I’ve worked on this blog post early so I could get it done.

One thing to note - while I can always trim up more pieces of fabric, I really was pretty much caught up with the regular trimming that I had wanted to do and that always feels good! When I clean up areas in my sewing room, then yes, I do find more to trim, but as of right now, the time I’m writing this, I do not have a huge pile or bag of pieces to be trimmed as I just spent several hours in the last few days doing that to which resulted in these strips. I’ve been finishing a lot of quilts, so that results in backing cut offs which if they are 6-7” wide, I just trim them to 2.5” strips and am done with that fabric! When I piece, I also create scraps and if I’m wanting to deal with them, I do trim them up. If they are large enough to fold nicely, I may just put them back on my shelves of fabrics by color.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
