What’s Your Favorite Christmas Item to make?

Quilters love to make Christmas items often starting in July. I know that. I also know it is only February right now. So, in many ways, way too early to think about Christmas.

The only problem is, as a shop, or a person who designs “things”, what type of things do you actually like to MAKE with Christmas fabrics, as opposed to buying?

Have you made any of these items as Christmas items?

oven mitts

tree skirts

mug rugs

placemats

pillows

table toppers

big quilts

lap quilts

ornaments

other decorations

stockings

bed runners

table runner

clothing items

aprons

???

What is your attitude towards making things with Christmas fabric in general? Do you like buying it and using it or does it just sit in your closet, untouched? Do you ever give Christmas items you have made as gifts?

I know, personally, when I made Christmas hearts last July, I loved doing it then. Life was quiet back then and the Christmas fabrics were mighty pretty. Then when it got close to Christmas and I wanted to have more here in FL, I made a few more, but it felt more hectic. So, Christmas in July is a great idea!

Anyway, as I think about some things, I’d love to hear some feedback and what you like/don’t like.

I’ve mentioned it before, but just in case you didn’t know, I do have a bed sized Christmas quilt, but it was given to me, and we have a purchased advent calendar we pull out on December 1 or thereabouts. Through the years I’ve made a tree skirt, one Christmas quilt with embroidery on it, and various ornament type things. I want to try some stockings for a charity in our area - as they fill them and give them away to children from the reservations mostly in the western part of the US. I want to make them but am not sure if I’ll actually get to it!

So what about you? Care to contribute? I would love to pick your brain!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
