English Cottages - a BOM finish!

Didn’t I just tell you recently how little I like Block of the Month quilts because I tend to lose interest or get frustrated because maybe I lose a block (a nightmare!) or because I can’t really get into it without having to put the blocks away again and just wait - often losing interest by the end of the year?

Yes, I believe I did.

But I made this quilt.

To be truthful, I did not do the blocks one at a time. Instead, I collected them in groups and did them in a couple of different groups of days.

If I remember it right, I made the first ones here in Poland and then the rest whiile we were in the states.

I ordered these from Shabby Fabrics and just had them come to my mom there in Florida. She collected them in a middle bedroom (used to be Rachael’s and my room) and then I picked the blocks up when I went back to the states a while ago. I actually made all the rest of the blocks in early 2025 and finished quilting this one not long ago back here in Poland.

These blocks were very easy because they were all prefused and precut by a laser, I guess.

It was really a fun quilt to make as each block was beautiful! I really enjoyed it!

I didn’t mind the blanket stitch sewing either. It wasn’t particularly hard and for many of the blocks I used my sister’s little Brother sewing machine while we were in a missionary apartment in Indianapolis, IN. I then put the top together in Indianapolis once I finished the blocks and brought the top back to Poland to finish quilting here.

Enjoy the pictures. It’s not a huge quilt, but I’m so pleased with it! I had never done this before but enjoyed this beautiful collection of blocks! I’m not in the states as you know and buying this kind of BOM was and still is quite new and feels exotic to me! I know some people do it all the time, but when you’ve not done it before, it feels “special” to me at this point.

I did want to mention that we at Quilted Twins have some laser cut blocks - and each will turn out beautifully!

Here they are! You can click on the picture and it will take you to the block shown.

Oh - you can look forward to both of these coming in the future - I have collected all of the blocks for these two quilts as well. I fell in love with all three - house quilts - and still love them. I collected all the blocks and can now put them together. I was able to bring the last of the blocks back with me in May of last year, so I’ve had them a while now. Wow, has this last year gone quickly!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
