Back to the Edyta Sitar's 2024 mystery quilt
I started this mystery last year. This is where I am so far. I talked about it way back in September of last year. :)
I came to a screeching halt with her week 4 (she does it in weeks and this one was a 6 week mystery with clues once a week).
You can see why I got stuck.
If you have followed me for a while you know that HST and I are not best friends. I don’t hate them anymore, but neither do I love them. Even more, I don’t love a whole, bunch of them back to back, edge to edge.
However, I helped myself this time by pressing all the seams open. This helped me with all that bulk.
As I have been thinking about which projects to get started on upon arrival back in the states, the first things I’ve been trying to do with are all the backings and finishing up of the tops I brought back. That’s taken a couple of days.
But then I saw this project and it’s been hanging over my head long enough. Time to tackle Week 4’s clue. Yes, that is in spite of it being almost all HST!
I spent pretty much the best part of the day on it - but I did finish the row.
Now, I know I’m not working at my best ‘focus speed’ simply because I have a bad cough (bronchitis) and jet lag, but I’m getting over jet lag and the cough hopefully has reached it’s peak, and I’ll get better now.
I do hope to go ahead and put the rest of the top together soon because while this was a msytery - week 5 is a sun. It’s all ready to topstitch on to the sky. Done.
I have already also made week 6’s clue which is the sky.
I do want to add doors to the cabins - by applique.
Here are the direct links to her 2024 mystery should you be interested in grabbing the clues before they are taken down. I mean, she said they would be taken down, but they are still there…so if interested, get them now!
She named it Colorado. It looks like she likes to name her quilts names of various states. (I’m a late comer to her mysteries.)
Anyway - just wanted to share my progress with this one. I’m hoping that this one will soon be done!
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
WAIT —
In going back to this project, I did see that Edyta will be having a mystery in 2025 as well - beginning in August.
One of the things she is asking you to do is get an EXTRA 5 yards of creams/low volume creams. This bundle seems like it would be great if that is what you are going to do. Rachael doesn’t have it in conjunction with this mystery, but I can see it fitting the bill. Edyta uses a lot of these very warm based colors - just like in this bundle. This is the company Edyta designs for - so consider getting this. It’s as smooth as butter! Click on the picture or the link below for direct access.
