Old Blocks - Sunbonnet Sue applique top finished

I came across these Sunbonnet Sue blocks in August when going through one of the rooms that had become a hoarder room. It is no longer that way. Now the closet…while I can get into it…it’s pretty full!

I wanted to make up this top as these were super sweet blocks. They deserve to be finished into a top.

Here’s what I’ve mocked up to do with these blocks. I will use a variety of gingham checkerboards for the sashings that I uncovered in that same cleanout that found me these blocks. I will probably have to actually find some in my stash for the borders as they are somewhat bigger pieces.

 
 

Here’s the final top - I changed it a bit by getting rid of the gray and used all white.

I used a variety of those ginghams because I didn’t have enough of a single one to do all those borders - or maybe I did but I wante dit more fun than that.

I’ve already folded this one up and put it downstairs, matched up with a backing, along with my other charity tops waiting to be quilted.
